Ella started her blog as a way of dealing with a relatively rare illness, Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, which she was diagnosed with in September 2011. She was prescribed a cocktail of medication, but unfortunately they had limited success in managing the condition and after about a year she hit rock bottom, both physically and mentally. Overnight she took up a whole foods, plant-based diet and gave up all meat, dairy, sugar, gluten, anything processed and all chemicals and additives! Today, she would take a batch of raw brownies over candy any day!
From day one she knew that she never wanted to compromise on taste – flavour, abundance and excitement had to sit at the heart of every meal. And when you visit her deli, you can taste that! Her goal is to share the joys and benefits of plant based living. It gave her her life and health back, and between that she can help millions of others too.
At Deliciously Ella, they are not only committed to making eating healthier and a little easier. They’re also big believers in supporting the health of our planet by sourcing ingredients from suppliers where agriculture environmental standards are well controlled and waste is minimized.
The deli is located in Mayfair, a very beautiful district in London. I really love the atmosphere in the deli, everything is light and beautifully decorated. The wall downstairs shows pictures, telling the Deliciously Ella story. I chose my meal as a take-away to eat in the park and listen to British Summer Festival. The carrot hummus and soba noodles with edamame are a dream! And make sure you try the nut butter balls! I could eat them the whole day!
